The King's Jaunt (first published by Collins in 1988 and subtitled George IV in Scotland, August 1822), by John Prebble (ISBN 1-84158-068-6), recounts the landmark visit of King George IV to Edinburgh at the height of the Highland Revival of the early 19th Century. This was the first visit of a British monarch to Scotland in over 150 years and not only created a sensation at the time, but proved to be a seminal event in the creation of a new Highland tradition.
